Craddock Verser

Jefferson County Superior Court

This candidate will appear on the ballot without opposition.

Craddock Verser

Current Occupation/Employer: Jefferson County Superior Court Judge since March 19, 2004.

Education: Cum laude graduate of Gonzaga Law School, 1979. Masters Degree in Education, 1973, BA Economics, 1971, University of Virginia.

Legal/Judicial Experience: Admitted to the Washington State Bar, May, 1980. From 1986 until 2004 represented public entities and private clients in all phases of litigation in all areas of general practice.

Family: Two adult daughters and one grandson.

Significant Career Experience: Over 200 jury trials, hundreds of bench trials and motions in all areas of the law; argued cases before the Court of Appeals and State Supreme Court; bar examiner since 1991.

Candidate Statement: I have served as Jefferson County’s only Superior Court Judge since my appointment by Governor Locke in March, 2004 and my election by the voters of Jefferson County that same year. As your only Superior Court Judge I have the opportunity and duty to hear and decide every possible type of case. It is a challenging and rewarding career which requires thoughtful application of legal principles to the unique facts presented by citizens. I believe I have adhered to my promise to treat all litigants with dignity and respect and to thoroughly explain my rulings. It is not only important that I impartially apply the law, but I also attempt to insure that both sides understand why I ruled as I did.

I look forward to continuing to serve the citizens of Jefferson County. I have learned a lot in the past four years, and I will continue to learn daily. In a one Judge County there is no substitute for hard work and years of legal experience. I will continue to work hard, learn, and apply my years of experience to do the best job possible for the citizens of Jefferson County. Thank you for your continued support.

Because only one candidate filed for this Superior Court position, the candidate will appear on the August 19 primary ballot unopposed.
