Current Occupation/Employer: Grant County Superior Court Judge Education: Valparaiso University. Valparaiso, Indiana. Bachelor of Science in Business Administration-Accounting. Gonzaga University School of Law - Juris Doctorate. Washington State Judicial College. National Judicial College- General Jurisdiction and Judicial Writing Degrees. United States Department of Justice-Advanced Science and Technology Adjudication Resource (ASTAR) program. Legal/Judicial Experience: 8 years as Superior Court Judge Significant Career Experience: Judge Antosz has heard thousands of hearings, presided over 60 jury trials and served three years in Juvenile Court. He also served four years as Grant County presiding judge. He currently serves on the Superior Court Judges Association Civil Law and Rules Committee. Candidate Statement: Superior Court Judge John Antosz was appointed to Grant County Superior Court in October 1999 by Washington state governor Gary Locke and was elected to the position in 2000 and 2004. “During the last eight years I have worked hard to fulfill what I consider are the tremendous responsibilities of this job. I believe the people of Grant County have benefited from this work in that they not only have a judge who works hard for them, but who has acquired skills which can only be gained through such experience and work.” Judge Antosz encourages the public to speak with people who have appeared in his courtroom, including jurors, witnesses, law enforcement, and attorneys, regarding his effectiveness and preparedness. Judge Antosz will serve as one of approximately 300 Department of Justice ASTAR resource judges in the United States who receive advanced bioscience, biotechnology, information sciences, molecular and energy sciences training and related adjudication skills to serve their jurisdictions in a variety of roles including complex and novel scientific issues. Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Judge Antosz has lifelong ties to eastern Washington. His mother was raised on a Lincoln County wheat farm she now owns. |
