Kevin KorsmoCurrent Occupation/Employer: Judge, Washington Court of Appeals.

Legal/Judicial Experience: Judge since February, 2008. Private practice 1982-1984. Worked as deputy prosecuting attorney 1984-2008.

Significant Career Experience: 20 years as appellate attorney; have argued several hundred cases in the Court of Appeals and 53 cases in the Washington Supreme Court, including two death penalty cases.

Education: J.D. with Honors, University of Washington School of Law (1982); B.S. North Dakota State University (1979); Gonzaga University (1975-1976).

Family: Married since 1980 to Barbara. Four children.

CANDIDATE STATEMENT: Judge Kevin Korsmo joined the Court of Appeals, Division Three, after a distinguished career as an appellate attorney in which he appeared before Division Three more often than any other attorney in history. Judge Kevin Korsmo is the only candidate rated “Exceptionally Well Qualified” by both the Washington Women Lawyers and the Washington Association of Prosecuting Attorneys.

Prior to his service on the Court of Appeals, Kevin served as a senior Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for Spokane County from 1990 to 2008. There Kevin managed or argued over 2000 cases in the Court of Appeals and Washington Supreme Court. Kevin’s vast experience has earned him the endorsements of law enforcement agencies, the prosecuting attorneys of the six counties in his district, Bar groups, and people across the political spectrum. More than 30 justices and judges have endorsed him, including Chief Justice Gerry Alexander, Justice Debra Stephens, Judge John Cooney, Judge Sam Cozza, Judge Tari Eitzen, and Judge Gregory Tripp.
