Kitsap County Superior CourtPosition One
Current Occupation/Employer: Attorney, Law Firm of Jeanette Dalton, Kingston, WA Education: BA, Business Administration, UW (1981). JD, University of Puget Sound, (1984). Legal/Judicial Experience: For 24 years, I’ve tried hundreds of criminal and civil cases both as a defense and prosecuting attorney. I’m the only candidate with actual experience as a substitute judge, presiding in several courts over my career. Family: Husband Ken and I live near Eglon with our dogs, enjoying traveling, scuba diving the Puget Sound, and music. Significant Career Experience: I’ve made thousands of appearances in government, state, and federal courts and represented clients in hundreds of jury trials. I’ve briefed and argued dozens of appeals. Candidate Statement: I believe in truth, justice, and integrity. I believe in ethics. And I believe in the law. A judge must be the guarantor of fair, ethical proceedings, using experience, legal knowledge and common sense to interpret and apply the law. I have the right kind of experience needed to be a Superior Court Judge and I am the only candidate who currently sits as a Judge pro tem. As a prosecuting attorney, I fought passionately for victim’s rights. As a defense attorney, I’ve been a champion for our Constitution. In the civil arena, I’ve been a voice for families, homeowners and small businesses. My values come from growing up in a military family and putting myself through school. I have a devotion to truth and common sense; a tireless work ethic; and the strength to stand for what’s right. And, importantly, I also know Kitsap County. This has been my home for 17 years. My experience as a member of this community will inform every decision I make from the bench. Firm. Fair. Honest. Just. I am humbled that community leaders, judges, court staff, law enforcement, small businesses and citizens throughout Kitsap County have placed their confidence in me. |
